LBS College of Engineering, Kasaragod

Our Legacy

LBS College of Engineering was established in 1993 under the auspices of the LBS Centre for Science and Technology, and has a proud history of academic excellence and innovation. The college initially offered B.Tech programs in Mechanical Engineering (ME), Electrical and Electronics Engineering (EEE), Computer Science and Engineering (CSE), and Electronics and Communication Engineering (ECE) with a total of 240 seats. The college began its journey in a temporary facility in 1995.

Our Campus

The college is situated in Muliyar Panchayath of Kasaragod district, the northernmost district of Kerala. Its sprawling 52-acre campus was generously provided by the Plantation Corporation of Kerala at Povval. The campus is 12 kilometers from Kasaragod town, with Mangaluru Airport and Kasaragod Railway Station being the nearest airport and railway station respectively. Nearby, the picturesque Bekal Fort, Madhur Temple, and Ananthapuri Temple are key tourist attractions in Kasaragod district.

Academic Growth and Expansion

In 2000, the college expanded its offerings by introducing a B.Tech program in Information Technology (IT) with an intake of 60 students and a Master of Computer Applications (MCA) program with 35 seats. In 2008, a B.Tech program in Civil Engineering (CE) was added to its portfolio. Further expansion occurred with an additional 60 seats each for the Mechanical Engineering, Computer Science and Engineering, and Electronics and Communication Engineering programs. Between 2013 and 2015, the college introduced four postgraduate programs and established research centers in Mechanical Engineering and Computer Science and Engineering, marking significant milestones in its journey towards academic excellence.

As the only government aided engineering college in the Kasaragod district, LBS College of Engineering plays a pivotal role in enabling students from remote areas to pursue UG and PG programs in engineering and technology. Over the years, the college has maintained a consistent academic and placement record, making it a preferred choice for students in the region.

Celebrating 25 years of sustainable success, LBS College of Engineering looks ahead to addressing local challenges, such as providing technical solutions to agricultural issues faced by farmers in the region. The institution remains dedicated to fostering innovation, academic excellence, and societal impact, guided by its vision and commitment to serving the community and nation.

Recognized as a placement hub, the college has facilitated numerous placements for its students in multinational corporations and industries. More than fifty companies have been incubated from the institution, many of which have grown to establish themselves in different metros, showcasing the college’s impact beyond regional boundaries.

LBS College of Engineering is committed to social responsibility and community engagement. The NSS Unit of the college has earned accolades at the state level for its impactful social activities. The college also participates actively in skill development initiatives through the Skill Development Platform for Kerala (SDPK) and ASAP, catering to the needs of young job aspirants in the region.

The place we call Home, Kasaragod

Kasaragod is a picturesque town located in the northernmost part of Kerala, India. Known for its rich cultural heritage and scenic landscapes, Kasaragod is a confluence of diverse traditions and languages. The town is renowned for its historic forts, majestic hills, serene backwaters, and pristine beaches. One of the most notable landmarks in Kasaragod is the Bekal Fort, a massive and well-preserved fort that offers stunning views of the Arabian Sea. This fort has significant historical importance and is a major tourist attraction. Additionally, the town is home to several beautiful temples and mosques, reflecting its religious diversity.

The local cuisine is another highlight, offering a delectable blend of Kerala’s traditional flavors with influences from the neighboring state of Karnataka. The town’s economy is primarily based on agriculture, fishing, and tourism. It is also known for its coir and handloom industries. With its natural beauty and cultural richness, Kasaragod offers a tranquil and enriching experience for visitors.
